Can I Enter?

As long as you live in Melton Borough, or have done within the last 5 years, and your proposed businesses is based in the borough then you can enter.

I don't have a business plan, can I just enter with an Idea for a business?

Yes, all businesses start from an idea so you are on the right course. This process is aimed at helping you develop your idea into a business concept, which can then be communicated and developed into a summary that can evolve within time to a business plan.

My idea is basic?

You dont need to be the next Elon Musk to enter this Challenge. If you simply are looking for some help and support in starting a simple business to develop yourself then we would love to hear from you. We would encourage you to get involved.

What Will I be Asked to do?

After registering your interest we will ask you to send a 2 page summary of your business idea or plan. We will supply you with documents for guidance. Should you be successful we will contact you to arrange a time to discuss your busines summary further.

Whats the small print?

Applicants will have provided identification and have a bank account where relevant payments can be made

Applicants will be able to demonstrate they have the skills and capabilities to meet their business objectives.

Applicants will be willing to share details of their business plan where requested.

Applicants will be seeking to be or are already self-employed and be applying for assistance with their own business.

All information provided by applicants must be accurate, open and honest.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate ethical and viable business practices which contribute to the local economy.

Applicants will be required to provide face to face feedback within 2 months regarding their progression and use of funds received.

Melton Enterprise has the right to reject any application at its own discretion without a duty to explain the reason.

Melton Enterprise's involvement in providing business assistance is limited to an introduction to a professional member and liability for this advice is not accepted by Melton Enterprise; the adviser must be fully insured for the advice given or omitted. It is down to the applicants’ discretion to accept or reject any advice offered. This is confirmed in the Grant Agreement Document, sent to the applicant, and signed by the Chair of the Enterprise Group.
